Radio Host makes contest's Top 10 - (August 10, 2010)

It was a "Pinch me, I think I'm dreaming" moment on Monday for Mississauga's Ashley Greco. Greco, who co-hosts Scott Fox & The Z103.5 Morning Show on Z103.5 radio in Toronto, emerged from among 100 contestants in Live! With Regis and Kelly's Women of Radio Co-Host for a Day Search to reach the final 10. From here, four winners will be selected to co-host with Regis Philbin during episodes of the popular New York-based morning television show later this month.

People can visit to vote for their favourite finalist. Voting ends Wednesday at 9 p.m. The finalists, chosen from 100 on-air personalities from across North America, were announced live on the Regis and Kelly show Monday morning.

"Pinch me, I think I'm dreaming," said Greco. "It's an honour to have been selected as the only Canadian in the top 10, especially being up against some amazing talent in this country. I hope I can make you all proud if I'm chosen as one of four to co-host."

In a short video on the show's website, Greco lists reasons why she believes she should be one of the co-hosts. "I'm fun, brutally honest and I'll do just about anything to get people to laugh," she said.

Greco, who grew up in Cambridge, moved to Mississauga with her parents and attended St. Joseph Secondary School. It was during her last year of high school that the school got its own radio station and she became fascinated with the broadcasting world. She enrolled in Humber College's radio broadcasting program and, upon graduation, got her start in the business working as a traffic reporter. In 2006, she was hired by Z103.5 and has spent the past four years with the station's morning show.
